Land of Dreams

Far, far away from the cold light of morning
Far, far away in your warm cosy bed
There is a land where your dreams keep on calling
“Come, come away with us, old sleepy head.”

There you can fly, you can soar like an eagle
Leap from the roof tops, way up high
Run like the wind through the forest unhindered,
No one can catch you, hard as they try.

All through the night there are stories unfolding
Footpaths to follow through tortuous ways
Twisting and branching and starting right over
How to discover a route through the maze?

Out from the shadows, a figure appearing
Seems like your friend - but the face isn’t right
Follow them down through the wood to a clearing
Wasn’t it here that you first saw the light?

Soon, far too soon, comes the sunlight a-creeping
Gone are the stars and the moon from the sky
Time to return from the land of your dreaming
Time to awake, rub the sleep from your eyes.

Fain would we hold on to dreams in the morning
Fain would we stay in a world that has gone
What was the reason and what was the meaning?
Just for a moment the memory lives on.

Far, far away from the cold light of morning
Far, far away in your warm cosy bed
There is a land where your dreams keep on calling
“We’ll be here waiting, when daytime has fled.”
